Explanation

Colors affect the readers' moods and interpretations of the piece. Color meanings vary by culture, but usually the warmer the color, the brighter and more energetic the layout is. Think of the rainbow --red, oranges, and yellows are warmer while greens, purples, and blues are cooler. Look at a color wheel--choose complementary colors.

A layout with bright colors will could convey frenetic pace or a happy place. A layout with more pastel colors could convey a calmer mood. Cooler colors could convey a more peaceful, serene mood. A grayscale layout of grays and blacks could convey shadowy moods or harsh, rigid moods.

Think of colors as your landscapes--how is a desert different from a jungle? Where has the author placed his or her work? Where do you want your work placed?

I chose a warm brown (closer to red than to purple) as the accent color for this site because brown connotes dependability and simplicity--the two traits I hope come through in this work.
